Book Review | WattPad |The Debutante (Season series #2/3) by Miss Katey

Book Information Post

With the Queens dissaproval aimed squarely
in her direction will she weather the
storm and win the prince?

This is the second book in a four book season
series and it tells the story of Libby's time
at court as a Debutante for the winter Season.
But just because shes there as a debutante now
rather than a attendant to a debutante as she was
in the first book doesnt mean she has an easier
time of it, infact if anythiing its even harder because
the competiton for the crown is even
tougher than it was last time as both the
Princes are taking part.

Again as with the first book When I read the
synopsis for this book on WattPad I was sure
that I was going to love it, even more so
beacuse I'd already read the first book in
the seres The Season and now i've read the book
I can say I wasn't dissapointed, thus the 4 out
of 5 star rating. And because of all the afore
mentioned things I have to say that this is a
book that I will both reccomend to others and
buy it as a gift for anyone I think would
enjoy it.

It was great being back in Libby and Prince
Andrews love story because they are so well
suited that its what you could call a match made
in Heaven. Again the authors writing was so captivating
and evocative that as a reader you
feel as though your experiencing the events along
with characters. One of the debutantes that we meet
in this book is Pricess Dulcina of Ardalone (learn more about her and her family in The Rebel Prince)
who expects to be "crowned" the next queen of
Pretania at the emd of the season thanks to a
Marriage Treaty that was signed by her Father and
the King of Pretania, surfice to say shes not
happy when she looses out to Libby.

I loved the fact that Libby was attending this
seasons as a debutante as apposed to a debutantes attendant, as she was in the first book, she was
still as singleminded, determined, intoreant of
the other debutantes simpering and backstabbing
(as well as the general backstabbing within the royalcourt, and doggedly honest as she was in the first book. The strengthening of the relationships between Libby and the Prince and Princess as well
as the development of the relationship between
the young prince and Prince Andrews best friend
were great.

The one dharacter whos behaviour I couldn't make
sense of at all while reading this book was the
King, because it just seemed so out of character
for him. It baffles me still furher now I've read
the Heiress Queen, the prequel to the series, as it seems completely out of the relms of what you'd
expect from how he was portrayed in this book.

This book was so captivating that from cover to
cover it just couldn't put it down and as soon as
soon as I'd finished reading this one I immediately strated reading the next book in the series The
Rebel Prince (unfortunatley not yet a completed book on WaatPad), because I needed more more more.

Book Review | WattPad | The Season (Season Series #1/4) by Miss Katey

Book Information Post

This is the first book in a four book season series, prequel
The Heiress Queen, and it tells the story of Ellas debutante
year of the Season with her young finishing school drop out
cousin, expelled from everyone in Pretania, Libby
Marks-Whelan as her attendant.

It tells of all the goings on in the season along with
Libby's antics while there until her cousin sends her home
after finding out what she'd been upto.

When I read the synopsus for this book on WattPad
I was sure that I was going to love the book and
now I've read the book I can say I wasn't dissapointed,
thus the 4 out of 5 star rating. And because of
this I have to say that this is a book that I
will both reccomend it to others and buy it as
a gift for anyone I think would enjoy it.
Although i can see where other reviewers are
coming from with regard the fact that the
author finished this book when it was so close
to the story being finished and continued the
story in the Debutante I can understand why
the author felt the need to do it. I honestly
don't think it would have been fair not to
finish this book where the author did as it was
about Ella's Debutante year so the remainder
of the story for Libby and Prince Andrew
needed its own book so as not to detract
from Ella's story as that was what this book was
about although Libby played a fairly major part
in it.

Initially I liked Ella because she had invited
Libby to the Palace to be her attendant during
the season, but ultimately I disliked her because
it was clear that she was a mean spirited
schemimg bitch which was obvious when she sent
Libby home for trying to help her win the prince
with her mischeivious antics.
Libby although quite Nieve has a very strong determined
attitude, and cant stand all the us
silly simpering that most of the debutants do
when around the prince while stabbing each
other in the back when the Prince isn't around.
I have to say that I am of the same mind as
her about the simpering and back stabbing of
the Debutants because I to would have no
patience with it either. It was quite clear from
the authors writing that the Prince was neither
taken in by the debutants behaviour nor impressed
with it, which is why he gravitated towards Libby
so much he knew she'd tell him straught when it
came to their behaviour and his behaviour.

The way the author described the characters
really made the reader feel connected to them
but it also made you appreciate all dynamics
between them. I would also say that the way
the author described the places (Palace) and
country (Pretania) the story was set in made
so evocatively made me feel like I was
actually experiencing everything the
charcters were along side them, which is why
in the book whenever Libby was feeliing
frustrated about something or with someone
I felt that frustration to.
I particularly loved the relationships that
developed between Libby and the prince
and pricess as you could see that they were
genuine and going to be long lasting.
All in all I loved this book so much that as
soon as I finished reading it I immediately
started reading the next book in the series
"The Debutante".

As i'm writing this Review not having read the
entire series I can honestly say that whole
series (The Rebel Prince, upto where the authors written
so far) is fantastic and i'll definiteltly
be reading more of her work.

Libby Marks-Whelan is decidedly not a lady. Kicked out of nearly every finishing school in the country, she's shocked when her demure, straight-laced cousin Ella invites her to the royal court as an attendant during her debutante season. What Ella fails to realize, however, is that Libby's brand of mischief is exactly the kind of distraction Prince Andrew is looking for during his inaugural season as an eligible bachelor.

Thank you to the Author publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for An honest unbiased review.

Read from may 9th to 17th 2017

Lying on a riverbank on a lazy summer’s afternoon – 23rd June 2016, to be precise – Alice spots a flustered-looking white rabbit called Dave calling for a referendum. Following him down a rabbit-hole, she emerges into a strange new land, where up is down, black is white, experts are fools and fools are experts... She meets such characters as the Corbynpillar, who sits on a toadstool smoking his hookah and being no help to anyone; Humpty Trumpty, perched on a wall he wants the Mexicans to pay for; the Cheshire Twat, who likes to disappear leaving only his grin, a pint, and the smell of scotch eggs remaining; and the terrifying Queen of Heartlessness, who’ll take off your head if you dare question her plan for Brexit. Will Alice ever be able to find anyone who speaks sense?

I would like to start this book review by thanking  the Author, Publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this well written, laugh out loud book in exchange for an honest unbiased review. My opinions of this book have not been influenced in anyway by the fact that I received it for review purposes.

The book tells the story of what happens to Alice when she spots & follows a a flustered-looking white rabbit called Dave calling for a referendum down a rabbit hole on the 23rd of June 2017. It follows her journey through the  strange new land she emerges in, where up is down, black is white, experts are fools and fools are experts… During her journey through the strange new land of Brexit she meets characters such as Corbynpillar (who sits on a toadstool smoking his hookah and being no help to anyone); Humpty Trumpty (perched on a wall he wants the Mexicans to pay for); the Cheshire Twat (who likes to disappear leaving only his grin, a pint, and the smell of scotch eggs remaining); and the terrifying Queen of Heartlessness who’ll take off your head if you dare question her plan for Brexit). Will Alice ever be able to find anyone who speaks sense.

I loved the authors satirical twist on Lewis Carole’s story Alice in Wonderland as well as his take on the Key players in Brexit including the idiocy of some of the things they said during the campaign.

This is a book that came at exactly the right time for me as I had recently read lots of books with some hard subjects in them and although this was about a very topical heavy subject due to its satirical nature I gave me some much needed light relief. It was also a very quick and easy read.

Although this is a book will date quickly due to the nature of its content it is still a book that I may re-read in the future as well as recommend to others and buy for people I know who I think may enjoy it.

It is for the reasons above that I have given this book a 5 star rating.

The Books that I read this week are:

Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah <Narrator: Susan Erickson>                       Read from 15th to 16th April 2018                                                                               Star Rating: 5/5 Stars                                                                                                      book information & Review Post                                                                                 I heard about this book from Jen on her channel Jen Talks Audiobooks who gave it an effusive review on her channel. This was a fantastically well written book which told the story of a Family where the mother had lived through the Siege of Leningrad during the second world war. The mother told the story of her life during the Siege bit by bit through a fairytale which she’d been telling her daughters the initial part of since they were children.         The imagery that the words created in places was amazing and was helped along the way by the skill of the Narrator, and it made me feel like I was a part of the story. Both this author and Narrator have become auto reads and listens because their both good in their fields.

The Final Empire (Mistborn 1/ ) by Brandon Sanderson <Narrator: >           Read from 28th March to 26th April 2018                                                                    My Rating:  5/5 Stars                                                                                                      book information & Review post                                                                                 I am so glad that I finally read this book which I’d heard about from several book tubers that II follow all of whom had said how great it was and they were all right. This is the first book in a multi book series and it told the story of Vin a young girl who’s an untrained Mistborn.                                                      I thoroughly enjoyed this well written book especially once I started listening to it via audible narration with my Kindle book as i felt totally engrossed in the story and world. The magic system in the book is fascinating and I can’t wait to see how it and all the character’s who I loved for different reasons develop further in future books in the series. It is for this reason that I can’t wait to get and start reading the next book, The Well if Ascension, in the series.

Ω

The Baronet’s Wedding Engagement (Royal Wedding Invitations 2/4) by Jessica Hart                                                                                                               Reading Period: Read from April 21 to 27 2018                                                         My Rating: 5/5 Stars                                                                                                       book information & Review post

This is the second book in the Royal Wedding Invitations series by various authors in which continues the story of Hope and Jonas’s Wedding planning/organization as well as Max (Hope’s Brother) and Flora’s (one of Hope’s Best friends and Bridesmaids) story. I loved the fact that although the engagement between Max and flora started as a fake one for the sake of the Crown Princess it became a real one in the end.  I enjoyed this book more than I did the first one, as in this one unlike the other one there were no extra words in sentences – which when it happened in the first book and drew me out of the story.                                                                                                 It was great being back in the world of an upcoming Royal Wedding and with the characters from the first book as well as meeting the new characters introduced in this book. Having read this book I know I want to read more books by this author as I enjoyed her writing style.                              This book is a lovely short little contemporary romance and it fits in to the contemporary romance very well

Ω

Days of Blood and Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone 2/4) by Laini Taylor <Narrator: Emilia Fox>                                                                                    Read from 12/3/17 to 19/4/18                                                                                      Star Rating: 5/5 Stars                                                                                                      Book Information and Information Post                                                                    As soon as I had finished the previous book in this series (Daughter of Smoke and Bone) and was able to get hold of this book I started reading it. I again got the audible narration with the kindle book as I know that this is the way that I am going to read all the books in this series.                                           The combination of Laini’s writing and Emilia’s Narration meant that I was thoroughly engrossed in the story and plot, and strong belief in the characters. I can honestly say that I love Laini’s writing so she has become an auto read author as well as due to the skill of the narrator she has become an auto listen narrator.                                                                                                  This book fits well in to the YA Paranormal Fantasy Romance genre so I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading books from these genres.

It was quick and easy to read and gave a good background to the stories from the main books, as well as Bartholomew’s history. I would reccomend this book to anyone who enjoys this series or any of Heathers other books but I would recommend that it is read after the books from the main

This told the story of Fabiola a young girl who had travelled to America with her mother from Port-au-Prince,Hati and their journey through her mother being arested at Customs.                                                                       This was a fantastically well written

It has to be said that I am glad that I got it in audiobook format because it meant that i was finally able to finish reading it due to the narrators skill in voicing all the different characters.                           The Characters and plot in the story were well written and developed which meant they were beleivable. It was a good introduction to what i am sure is going to be a great YA historical mystery series.

Ω

China Rich Girlfriend (Crazy Rich Asians 2/3) by Kevin Kwan [Narrator: Lydia Look]                                                                                                                      Read from 7th to 20th April 2018                                                                                 My Star Rating:5/5 Stars                                                                                                 Book information & Review Post                 Book Review                                        This is the second book in the Crazy Rich Asians Trillogy and I started reading it as soon as I’d finished reading the previous Book (Crazy Rich Asians, because I enjoyed it so much.                                                                          I enjoyed this book as much as the first one especially as I listened to it as I had the first one. Although the Narrator for this book was different from the first one she narrated the book as well as the other one and I will make a point of finding other books she’s narrated.
