A sweet, funny and romantic novel from the much-loved author, which reached No. 4 in the Sunday     Times hardback bestseller chart. It’s been a while, but Lara Carson’s back in Bath and lives are set       to change as a result. Because Lara left her family and boyfriend Flynn eighteen years ago without a     word to anyone. Why has no one heard from her since? Her childhood best friend Evie is thrilled           Lara’s back and able to share her happiness. Evie’s about to walk down the aisle with her dream           man, Joel. Or so she thinks… Then there’s Flynn Erskine, even more attractive now and stunned to     see Lara again. The spark between them is as strong as ever, but how’s Flynn going to react when         he discovers the secret she’s been keeping from him? Oh yes, there’s a lot of catching up to be done…

I read this short story via book shout and loved it which why I gave it 5 stars.

it is a story of a young woman who’s lost her job & split with her boyfriend who’s betrayed her by sleeping with her ex best friend, so has returned to the family holiday home to live with her mother.

I found it to be a page turner which I finished in about an hour and a half thanks to the authors fantastic writing, character and plot development.

The main character meets the love interest when she’s walking her mothers dog in the local park after his grandmothers dog attacks it. She isn’t looking for another relationship because she’s still not over her ex but she can’t help starting to have feelings for him when she sees how gentle and caring not to say drop dead gorgeous he is.

The developing love story is nearly halted when she thinks he is a killer as a result of going in to one of the bedrooms and finding a dead body in the bed with medical instruments next to it, when she goes to pick him up for their date, but he manages to put her mind at rest.

Jill Mansell lives with her partner and children in Bristol, and writes full time.
Actually that’s not true; she watches TV, eats fruit gums, admires the rugby players training in the sports field behind her house, and spends hours on the internet Tweeting and marvelling at how many other writers have blogs. Only when she’s completely run out of displacement activities does she actually write.
