I would like to thank the author for being so kind to send me a copy of the book to read in exchange for an honest review.

Schism is well worth the 5 star rating that I am giving it because the cover art, the authors writing style and word building skills are second to none, and the combination of all of these things means that it is an amazing book that I will definitely read again as well as buy a copy of for my kindle.

I loved the fact that Michael started the book by giving the reader (me) definition for Schism (noun\s(k)izam: A split or division between strongly opposed sections or parties, caused by differences in opinion or belief.). Now I have read the book I can see that this title is a whoely appropriate one because not only is their is a split in the planets society as  whole but also with in the Royal family itself as well.

The book introduces the reader to the Planet of Darracia and how the ever widening gap between the social classes on the planet is causing turmoil as well as to the struggle that the nineteen year old Prince V’sair is having with harnessing the power of the elusive Fireblade, which is the secret to a warrior’s heart. It is so important for him to do this so he can overcome his uncle Staf Nuen’s supremacy but he can only do it with the guidance of the Elements as to what his true destiny is. It also not only introduces you to all the species i=on the planet but also the planets and their species in the solar system.

The love story that develops between the Prince and his mothers handmaid is so endearing and when she has to return to her home on the planet “the dessa” after she becomes a high priestess you can feel the pain that it causes both of them. I loved the book from beginning to end because the authors descriptions and ways he built the world over and over again kept me enthralled but it also enabled me to see what life was like for all the planets inhabitants. It also made me feel a strong connection to the Prince.

So all in all I cant wait to read the other two books in the series so far, in fact I have already started reading the second book and will recommend the book to others as well as buy it as a gift for friends/family.
